Official server

Does Snowflake have an MCP server?

Yes. Snowflake documents an official, Snowflake-managed MCP server for governed data access, covering warehouse queries, metadata reads and Cortex-backed agent governance, at https://docs.snowflake.com/en/user-guide/snowflake-cortex/cortex-agents-mcp.

This is a SQL and metadata surface over whatever warehouse the connecting account's Snowflake role can already see, so the practical scope is set entirely by existing Snowflake role-based access control, not by the MCP layer itself. Confirm which roles and warehouses a given connection uses before assuming broader reach.

Snowflake's own documentation frames this as governed access with Cortex behind it; the specifics of that governance, query limits and current endpoint format (the docs show an account-specific host, not a single fixed URL) should be confirmed directly against Snowflake's docs rather than this summary. This is a research note, not an endorsement of any particular configuration or of running write-capable SQL through an agent without review. Start with read-only scopes where supported and keep client-side approval prompts on.
