Official server

Does Xero have an MCP server?

Yes. Xero publishes an official MCP server covering contacts, invoices, bank transactions, reports, payroll and tracking categories, installed locally via npx from Xero's own GitHub organization.

The published scope spans payroll and bank transactions, which is broader and more sensitive than typical invoicing tools (https://github.com/XeroAPI/xero-mcp-server). OAuth governs access to your own Xero organization, and as with any first-party accounting connector, confirm which tools write versus read before letting an agent touch a live ledger.

Like QuickBooks, Xero is a general-ledger and payroll platform rather than a wealth or advisory system, so this connector is relevant mainly to firms doing their own books or to accounting-adjacent client service lines, not to portfolio or planning data. Claims here have not been independently tested. Start with read-only scopes where available and keep client-side approval prompts on. A directory listing is not an endorsement.
