Official server

Does Plaid have an MCP server?

Yes. Plaid publishes a remote Dashboard MCP server and a local AI coding toolkit. The Dashboard connection provides production diagnostics, Link conversion analytics and usage metrics; it is not a general-purpose MCP feed of a client's balances or holdings.

Plaid's own documentation at https://plaid.com/docs/resources/mcp/ distinguishes the remote Dashboard server from the local development toolkit. The remote connection requires production approval for at least one Plaid product; its tools debug Items and examine an integration's metrics. Do not infer access to all Plaid account-data APIs from the presence of an MCP endpoint.

The local toolkit supports development tasks such as documentation search, mock data, Sandbox tokens and webhook simulation. It is a different connection and should not be confused with production account aggregation. The current catalog route points to the Dashboard server.

Plaid says the Dashboard server is under active development, may introduce breaking changes and has limited support. These are vendor-documented capabilities, not independently tested here. Start with read-only scopes, inspect the actual tool list and protect customer identifiers exposed by diagnostic results. A directory listing is not an endorsement.
